Team Spotlight: Jesus Toquinto Zubiate
Meet Jesus Toquinto Zubiate, Senior Data Engineer.
What brought you to CTA?
Before joining CTA, I spent some years working at a bank. It was my first engineering job and I was grateful for all of the skills I learned there. But I also learned that working in a place where all of your effort goes towards making more money and making wealthy individuals wealthier wasn’t for me. I wanted to use my time and the things I had learned to do a bit of good. So I was pretty excited when I found CTA and learned about their goal of building tech for good and about all of the wonderful organizations they were supporting.
In 5 words or less, what do you do at CTA?
Move data and build syncs.
What’s your proudest work accomplishment?
I would say that it makes me happy to know that the struggle I go through to build out gnarly syncs means others won’t have to and that they can keep their focus on making an impact!
What’s something on your desk or your workspace that inspires you?
I have a random assortment of things that people have given me over the years scattered around my desk. My favorites are a little duck lamp and snake figurine that my partner gifted me a while back! I like daydreaming about the stuff they would get up to if they had their own comic.
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
I’m not picky with my ice cream but I do really enjoy Haagen-Dazs White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle!
Any hidden talents we should know about?
I’ve gotten pretty good with a sewing machine recently. I’ve been working on making some bags and jackets!
